Brooke Davila Fricke, Licensed Massage Therapy in Richmond, Virginia. Massage Therapy for low back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, neck pain, Myofascial pain, deep tissue,

Thoughtful, integrative bodywork and functional mobility coaching designed to help you feel better, move with greater freedom, and better understand what your body needs.

I listen. I assess. I stay curious.

I meet you where you are and bring experience, curiosity, and a wide range of tools. Sometimes that means hands-on work to support the nervous system, fascia, or lymphatic system. Other times, it means looking more closely at how your joints move and where capacity may be limited.

Together, we work with the body you have now-supporting how you want to move, feel, and live.

Where Hands-On Care Meets Lasting Change

My Philosophy

Your body isn’t a problem to solve.

It’s something to listen to.

At Presence, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Bodies change. Needs change. And what feels right for you today may be completely different six months-or even a week- from now.

My work brings together functional assessment, therapeutic massage, myofascial and lymphatic techniques, nervous system support, mobility, and movement. Rather than fitting you into a predetermined routine, I draw from these different approaches based on what I see, what I feel, and most importantly, what you tell me.

Sometimes your body needs a deeper understanding of its function to problem solve, other times

focused therapeutic work. Sometimes it needs slower, quieter touch and space to settle.

We start with where you are today and work from there.

This work can be especially valuable if you’re noticing changes in how your body moves-less range, greater stiffness, differences from one side to the other, or certain movements that simply don’t feel as available as they once did. It’s also for people who want to be proactive about maintaining joint health and movement capacity as they age.

Functional Assessment

How well your joints move-and especially how well they rotate-matters to how your body functions.

When a joint has limited motion in one direction, or there’s a significant difference between one side of the body and the other, it can change the way you move and how other areas of your body have to adapt.

Functional Range Assessment (FRA®) gives me a way to take a closer look at how your joints are actually moving. Through a series of specific movements and measurements, I can better understand that range of motion is available to you, what you can actively control, and where your body may have less capacity than we’d like.

From there, we get to work.

These sessions are active and collaborative. Based on what we find, I use targeted FRC® training and specific manual techniques to address the findings of your assessment. You’ll be moving, working, and participating throughout much of the session rather than receiving a traditional massage.

We can then reassess to see how your body responds and use that information to guide what comes next.

Less guessing. More informed, specific work based on what your body is actually showing us.

FRC® Functional Mobility Coaching

Personalized Mobility Coaching for Adults 45+

Move freely. Stay capable. Move well for life.

Online movement coaching session for adults 45+ focused on strength, mobility, and healthy aging in Richmond, VA.

Functional Mobility for the Body You Live In

As we move through life, maintaining our ability to move well becomes increasingly important. Our joints need more than flexibility—they need strength, control and access to the ranges of motion that allow us to move confidently through everyday life.

But mobility isn't simply about stretching or becoming more flexible.

Functional Mobility Coaching is private, one-on-one guidance designed to help you understand your body, improve how your joints move and build strength and control throughout your available ranges of motion.

Whether you already strength train, practice Pilates or yoga, run, cycle, hike, play a sport—or simply want to feel more capable in your everyday life—mobility work can support what you already do and help you continue doing it for years to come.

This is not a generic workout program.

Every session is built around you—your body, your movement history, your current mobility, your goals, and the activities that matter to you.

Mobility + Joint Strength + Control

My approach is grounded in Functional Range Conditioning (FRC™), a system of mobility training designed to improve active range of motion, joint strength and control.

Rather than simply stretching into greater ranges, we work to develop your ability to actively access and control your movement. This may include joint-specific mobility work, controlled articular rotations, end-range strength, isometrics and other individualized strategies based on what your body needs.

The work can be surprisingly challenging. Mobility training is strength training—just with a particular emphasis on creating strength and control throughout your ranges of motion.

The goal isn't to become exceptionally flexible or perform impressive mobility exercises.

It's to create more usable movement.

To help your joints become stronger and more adaptable. To improve your awareness of your own body. And to give you more options for how you move—now and as you get older.

Supporting What You Already Love to Do

You don't need to give up your current exercise or start an entirely new fitness program.

Functional mobility work can complement strength training, Pilates, yoga, running, cycling, hiking, recreational sports and everyday movement by addressing something many traditional exercise programs don't specifically train: the health, strength and capacity of your joints themselves.

Think of this work as an investment in your movement longevity—helping you maintain the freedom and capability to keep doing the things that make your life yours.

Hi, I’m Brooke

Brooke Fricke online movement coach for adults. Improve strength, increase balance, improve bone health, functional mobility and strength

I’ve spent much of my professional life studying bodies-how they move, where they get stuck, how they compensate, and what helps them feel strong and capable again. But some of my most important education came from living in my own body. For four years, I lived with what I thought was sciatica. Eventually, I learned that the pain was being caused by a sacral nerve sheath tumor. Removing it meant a six hour surgery, a week in the hospital lying completely flat, a long recovery, and learning how to live in a body that was-and still is- different than it was before. That experience changed the way I work. I know what it’s like when pain starts dictating your choices. I know the frustration of wanting your body to do something it simply isn’t ready to do. And I know that recovery isn’t always a straight line or a triumphant “back to normal.” Sometimes it’s learning, adapting, getting stronger, and creating a new relationship with the body you have now. These days, I’m also a working mother to a beautiful teenager and a woman in my 50s navigating menopause. I work hard to stay strong=and I can assure you, the rules have changed a little since my 30s. I get it. It’s a big part of why I’m so passionate about helping women build strength, mobility, confidence, and trust in their bodies as they move through midlife and beyond. I’m not interested in punishing bodies into submission or chasing some impossible version of youth. I want us to be strong enough to keep doing the things we love, and resilient enough to adapt when life changes the plan.

My work brings together years of experience in massage therapy, myofascial work, lymphatic therapy, functional mobility, mindful movement and strength. I look at the whole person in front of me rather than simply treating a tight muscle or prescribing an exercise. Because bodies are complicated. Life is complicated. And sometimes the answer is mobility work, sometimes it’s strength, sometimes it’s hands-on bodywork-and sometimes you just need someone who understands what it feels like when your body throws you a curveball.

Outside of work, I’m still a New Yorker at heart. I believe there are few problems that can’t be be made at least slightly better by a good NY slice-and I’ll happily take my whiskey neat.

My experience is my calling card. I don’t work with women from a place of perfection. I work with them from experience, curiosity, compassion, and a deep belief that our bodies are capable of far more than we sometimes give them credit for.
